Happy birthday.

It has been a challenge but you have succeeded spectacularly while maintaining a proven "best personality" and a champion's sense of humor. Keep up the good work.

Congrats from a "best man".

Frank,
Happy birthday again and hopefully many more.

Oregon State has renewed my enthusiasm for good baseball with a great team and year. Every time a pitcher starts to throw too many balls I think they could use your help (at 18).

Last night, tied in the bottom of the ninth with a runner on first and one out , UW walked the OSU number 2 hitter on purpose, followed by the OSU number three hitter, to load the bases. (OSU's number 2 hitter leads the Pac12 in rbi's, with number 3 right behind in rbi's). That is the first time I have ever seen two hitters walked in a row on purpose. ... OSU's number four hitter came up with one out and hit a clean single to center for the "walk off" score. . Good baseball you would enjoy.

Stay happy and healthy. 80 isn't far away.

Pete,
Happy Birthday always. I'm three days early but that's better than late. I knew you would lick the big C so you could fly to more places on the globe. Reser Westside is just a hole right now but soon to be a palace. You will need to join with us at least once this season and watch it rise .......and we can enjoy some Bob Thompson humor, beer & vittles while we are there.

Barney,
Way to go. Your clean living is going to outlast us all. Keep it up. Hope to see you soon. I hear the tourists are over running you but I will brave it. I really didn't realize you and Vern are so close in age. Somethings take a little longer. I once did hear good things can come in pairs.

Thank you Patty and Claudine for your persistence gathering this  information. I remember Englehaupt well, particularly in Junior High. The Army picture is definitely him. I remember him as quit friendly, very positive, with excellent humor. I believe he played in our noon hour football league in the sixth grade and was pretty fast. He could almost catch Charley Boston.  I have thought of him several times, asked you about him a couple times, and hoped to see him at some reunions. Like I said, he had a great smile, good humor, and who could forget any one with that great last name. I didn't realize he had been in Vietnam but I am particularly proud of him for serving two tours. The great majority served one tour and got out of the Army back then. He must have been what we referred to as a "Gungho" troop who really believed in this country and unselfishly fought for it

Best wishes to his family. Francis Englehaupt was one of our good guys.

Marcia,
Congratulations. Have a wonderful birthday. I actually do remember being in Mrs. Powell's first grade with you. I think you got to ring the recess bell out the window more times then I did.
